While rebooting Windows 7 after windows update including service pack 1 installed. Booting time system shows Applying update. In some case it produce "error C000003A applying update operation 8414 of 92046(System...)" and hang up.
Solution :
Restart your computer and press F8 right after the Bios Screen.
Select Windows Recovery Environment [this should be the top option].
Select keyboard option and log into your account.

- Open the "Command Prompt"
- Find your Windows directory (my PC was on G:. you can find out it easily because it is already shown in top Windows Recovery Environment)
- CD to Windows\WinSxS folder
- Type in this command move pending.xml pending.old
- Exit command prompt
- Run "System Restore"
- Select the option for Service Pack 1
- Exit and reboot

ReplyDeletejust to append my previous comment, system restore may claim that some files weren't restored or such just ignore it and reboot the computer and when the desktop comes up (you may have to do the alt ctrl del trick to start the task manager if you get a black screen that won't disappear the desktop shows up as soon as the task manager does) reboot it once again and you're safe
