Windows 7 Sidebar has significant change then windows vista. Windows Vista sidebar was completely independent of user account control. However in windows 7 sidebar with gadget and UAC are related means if you turn of or disable UAC in windows 7 then sidebar will not work.
But in some case, Gadgets stopped working do to crash of a third part Gadget. It can solve this by deleting the crashed Gadget.
But normally we cant get the close button of crashed gadget. So use the following command to get the Gadget
Start->Run Type Shell:Gadgets and press Enter.
Now you get the Gadgets folder with list of installed gadgets folders. Remove the last or crashed gadget folder and jut log off or restart your computer
