Problem facing to connect new Tata Photon+ Mobile Broadband in Ubuntu 11.04 and Mint 11. New device may not be detected. In this case, we need run the "install_linux" Script file manually, which kept in device. Since the device not mounted in Ubuntu or Mint, plug the device in windows machine and copy contents of device "CD Drive() Tata Photon+" into a folder like "Tata Photon+" in your Ubuntu or Mint Home Folder.
Step to Follow
1, Open Tata Photon+ folder
2, Select 'install_linux' and right click
3, Select Properties
4, Under 'Permissions' tab Tick on Allow executing file as program
5, Open terminal
6, Type Sudo '/Home//Tata Photon+/install_linux'
7, Hit Enter
8, Give you password
9, Now you get an Install window, Hit Enter
10, Enter any key to Finish, Hit Enter
11, Finished Press any key to Exit, Hit Enter
12, In terminal, Press any key to Exit, Hit Enter
13, Reboot your computer
14, Plug the device
15, Wait for Tata Photon+ Welcome screen
16, Click Enable Mobile Broadband in Network Manager
17, Select New mobile broadband (CDMA) connection from Network Manager
18, In Broadband Connection window, Set up a Mobile Broadband Connection, Click Forward
19, Select Tata Indicom (Photon+),Click Forward and Finish
20, Select Mobile Broadband in Network Manager
21, Select Tata Indicom (Photon+) Connection and click Edit
22, Give the User Name and Password as 'internet' and Click Save
23, Un-Tick and Tick Enable Netwoking,Enable Mobile Broadband in Network Manager
Now enjoy your Tata Photon+

ReplyDeleteAmitabh, it is very easy and simple in 11.04. connect evdo wait for auto diction. If it not displaying the wizard then select menu System-> Preferences -> Network Connections. Select Mobile Broadband Tab. click Add button. Check if broadband connection widows identified your device then select it from the list. if not, no problem. Click forward select Country/region as INDIA then Forward. Select your provider from list as BSNL/CellOne then forward and select your Connection plan eg: New GPRS/3G forward and Apply. Disable and Enable your network for connecting BSNL Net.

I changed the permissions to 777 and run install_linux. It had the similar output to begin with, but after begin verify cd, it says SysConfig.dat file not found..

ReplyDeleteCheck weather there is USB Mode Switch installed in your system if not found use this command sudo apt-get install usb-modeswitch or use Synaptic Package Manager or Ubuntu Software Center for installing . After completing installation unplug Photon+ and reconnect. Now try to install Photon+
